BROOKSVILLE A man told deputies he woke to the sound of hybrid wolves
attacking two of his sheep on Friday.
According to a Sheriff's Office report, a man ran outside and was able to chase off
three wolf hybrid dogs, which had gotten into the run where he keeps his sheep.
He told deputies that the animals have attacked his sheep before — resulting in
needed veterinary care for some of them, the report showed.
The man added that he saw the dogs run off toward property owned by Sharon
Schwindt, who is known to keep several wolf hybrids.
Deputies attempted to contact Schwindt, but she did not respond after several phone
calls and blowing the car horn near her gate. Hernando County Animal Services
officials were contacted and claimed to have an ongoing investigation on Schwindt
and her wolves.
The matter was turned over to HCAS and, as of press time, no further information
was available pertaining to Schwindt's investigation.
